If you live in the New York area and wanted to get in-person instruction, then you should link up with our resident Amharic expert, Zewditu Fesseha. A dedicated instructor and a cultural ambassador in her own right, Zewditu has taught Amharic in the New York area for several years. She has also written a text book:
Amharic Ethiopian Script: Laqech One.
Recently, Zewditu has worked with
Ifetayo Cultural Arts Academy in Brooklyn, NY where she has taught several Amharic sessions this year. In January 2010, Zewditu taught a 10-day, language intensive course for a group of
Medgar Evers College students who were planning a learning expedition to Ethiopia in February 2010.
Zewditu is currently teaching a weekly introductory Amharic Course through the
Jewish Community Center in Manhattan. The course starts Sunday, March 28 and continues through Sunday, June 6. To learn more about the course, please visit our
